In our pursuit of freedom, we must first comprehend the laws that govern our existence. True freedom is not the absence of rules, but rather the ability to act within the boundaries of established laws. Many of us struggle because we fail to understand the rules of our environment, leading to frustration and potentially amplifying our problems.
Genuine freedom cannot coexist with lawlessness, as the latter holds us captive. To experience true liberty, we must align ourselves with the laws that shape our reality.
1.Universal Law: The Cosmic Blueprint
As the cosmos took shape, universal laws emerged to govern all aspects of existence. These fundamental principles apply to every facet of reality, from the tiniest particles to the grandest celestial bodies.
The Twelve Universal Laws
- The Law of Divine Oneness
- The Law of Vibration
- The Law of Correspondence
- The Law of Attraction
- The Law of Inspired Action
- The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy
- The Law of Cause and Effect
- The Law of Compensation
- The Law of Relativity
- The Law of Polarity
- The Law of Rhythm
- The Law of Gender
“The universe is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.” – Sir Arthur Eddington
2. Natural Law: The Physical Realm’s Foundation
As the physical world formed, natural laws came into being. These laws shape our tangible reality and the phenomena we observe daily. Natural law is the driving force that keeps nature alive and thriving.
Thomas Aquinas, a prominent philosopher, described natural law as encompassing three key aspects:
- Good deeds must be done, and evil deeds must be avoided
- Survival and procreation are core human values
- Any natural laws set by human governments are positive laws
3. Moral Law: The Guiding Principles of Humanity
With the creation of humans, moral law emerged to guide our interactions and form the basis of ethics and societal norms. Three fundamental concepts underpin moral law:
- Justice: Shaping our understanding of right and wrong
- Empathy: Allowing us to consider the feelings and experiences of others
- Reciprocity: Underpinning social cooperation
“The moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
Support Law: The Essence of Moral Law
When faced with life’s trials, upholding moral law can transform these challenges into opportunities for growth. The essence of support law lies in caring for others as much as we care for ourselves. Though our individual forms may dictate superiority or inferiority in certain situations, we must recognize that we are equal in essence. This equality regardless of form means that the laws also apply to us. The pillars of moral law stand as;
Faith
Belief in a higher power or creator is essential for morality. Faith is not merely mental agreement but is demonstrated through good deeds and affirmative action.
Hope
Maintaining hope for oneself and others is crucial. Without hope, one may resort to unrighteous activities, even at their own detriment, to achieve gains.
Love
Love is supreme and life-giving. It is the fruit of energy and makes the heart light. Love leads to ascension and moral uprightness.
Self-respect
Respect should accord with ourselves and others. We must maintain humility while recognising our inherent power and keeping our body, mind, and spirit sanctified.
Friendship
No person can truly live in isolation. When we have friends, we must:
- Love and care for their well-being as we would our own
- Uphold their dignity, rights, and freedom
- Be clear and truthful in our interactions
The Importance of Abiding by Moral Law
Adhering to moral law is essential for both individual and societal prosperity. A lack of morality often results in poverty, both material and spiritual. True happiness and fulfilment come from consistent sources, not from fleeting material possessions or vanity.
A prosperous community can only be attained through the practice of morals. It is crucial for individuals, groups, and nations to uphold moral standards, as a system that accepts immoral behaviour in its laws will ultimately lack efficiency and stability.
By understanding and living in accordance with these three fundamental laws – Universal, Natural, and Moral – we can navigate life with greater ease, purpose, and fulfilment.
